Art Idol Movie Review

Title: Art Idol
Year: 2012
Language: Thai
Duration: 1 hour 42 minutes
Genre: Comedy

Art Idol is a Thai comedy type of movie which is about Art, an artist wannabe, he wanted to become a popular artist so that the girls who fancies art will idolized him just like his idol, Mo, a part of the popular artist trio named 3M and became Art's teacher into his way to success in the field of arts. Art tried his best to learn and as time went by, he improved, but he just ended up copying Mo's work.

The movie was fun the whole time, of course it was comedy film, but I found some jokes were unnecessary and they were all over the place, untimely humor as I would call it. I also found the actors and actresses overdoing their acting especially when hitting a scene with humor like the characters weren't spontaneous enough but still funny though. I also found the acting of the casts dull, they were not able to portray genuine emotions especially with the scenes that need to show sadness.

But on the good side, the film has a deeper meaning compared to what I've expected when I was watching it. It showed that we sometimes lose the right path to success, that we try do what others could do greatly and we tend to imitate their success that we forget our own individual and unique talents and skills that we do have. And a plus factor also, the film showed a variety of entertaining acts like there were also singing, rapping and dancing scenes as if it was a musical show which really show how Thai people have a great passion into music because I have seen a lot of Thai movies and TV series presented skills in songwriting, singing and playing musical instruments.

It was not really a great movie but certainly it was not the worst though. It is still worth to watch as I would compare it to other films out there. And if I would rate this film, it would score of about seven out of a 10.

A "Kilig Much" Gay-Themed Thai Movie

Title: Love's Coming
Year: 2014
Duration: 1 hour and 47 minutes
Language: Thai
Subtitle: English
Genre: Romantic Comedy

The movie is about the friendship between Zee, Pid, Arm and Gump. Gump got busy and had few time to hang out with his friends since he was with another friend, Nai, and because of that, Zee had a feeling that Gump was gay and having an affair with Nai.

The story was about love, romance and friendship. It is a very "kilig much" and definitely a must watch movie! It is one of the best gay-themed movies that I've seen. There were no parts of the movie that I did not like, I was actually in good vibes the whole time watching it.

The cinematography may not be the best and the acting may not be superb as compared to other highly budgeted films but they were actually good enough to portray a romantic comedy movie and what's even better is that it is not identical to other gay-themed Thai movies out there, it provides a good outlook on the existence of third sex and does not show any discrimination to gay people and they could also experience true love just like straight guys do.

Alternate Jobs for Unemployed Nurses

Surplus in the quantity of nursing graduates is undeniable. Most of these nurses pursue volunteer work after they passed the Nursing Licensure Examination but not all are in favor of these "forced" volunteer and I am one of those. I, myself, is a nurse graduate and even passed the board examination but currently working outside the nursing field.

I was fortunate enough since I have been able to work as a company nurse after I passed the licensure examination but I opted to resigned because of some reason and one of those reason was the salary.

But I am here to guide you to look for an alternate job for us nurses. Below is the Top 5 list of alternate jobs.

Top 5: Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Industry: Call Center / Medical Transcription / Medical Encoding

When I was still waiting for the results of the licensure examination, I decided to work as a call center representative since I don't wanna be stagnant at home, unproductive. So there goes, I went job hunting for this call center post but unfortunately, there were some firm that does not accept nursing graduates to apply but no problem with it. There are a lot of BPO firms that accepts nursing graduates.

What is good about BPO industry is that is not limited to taking calls and rendering service to callers. You also try Medical Transcription jobs wherein you will be given audio files and what you have to do is to transcribe them into text form.

Another good thing with the BPO industry is that they provide competitive salary even if you do not have any related working experience. And one more thing is that this industry is easy to penetrate since they really need agents to do outsourcing jobs.

The downside is, BPO industry in a stressfull working environment and most of the working schedule is way beyond the normal work schedule.

Top 4: Phamarceutical Industry: Pharmacy Assistant

I have no personal working experience working as a pharmacy assistant but most of my batchmates who failed the licensure examination took this as their job however, there were also some who passed who worked in this position.

This is also an easy to penetrate job and there a lot of pharmacies around so job vacancy is quite good. But the downside with this is a low salary rate and top to that is low job satisfaction, most of my batchmates resigned from this position.

Top 3:  Pharmaceutical / Marketing (Sales) Industry: Medical Sales Representative

This is a good job for you guys to consider applying for. This is a quite good opportunity for you; competitive salary, some companies even have good car plans and provide tablets which you will be utilizing doing the job.

If you have a good communication skills, plus a very professional look, this job is for you! But the downside of this position is that it is a quite hard to penetrate job. I, myself tried to sent out curricullum vitae/ resume but mostly, there were no calls received that invite me for even just an interview to see if I qualify for the job.

There was only one company that called me for an interview and I went there. But unfortunately, I failed the written examination. LOL. The examination was really time pressuring. Or maybe, I was not really meant for the position and a better job awaits me :]

If you think that you have a professional image and have a really good sales skills. You should try applying for this one! It would be great if you get the job!

Top 2: Airline / Hospitality Insudtry: Passenger Service Agent

This is the position I am currently working, Passenger Service Agent. Actually, this is not really the position I planned to apply for. But anyways, let's get into the job description. The job/position is quite broad, you could be designated to different areas like the check-in counter, boarding gates (pre-departure area), and/or arrival area.

This is a real fun-filled job out there. If you are the type that wants a fun-environment, then this one is perfect for you! You will be able to meet different people (co-workers and passengers) and be able to learn the skills of passenger handling or excellent customer service. One more thing is that it is  not limited to hospitality/tourism graduates only, as long as you graduated a four-year course, then you are qualified.

The downside on this position is that it only offers an average salary and before you get the position, you will go through tough steps. Numerous interviews, IQ level examinations, 3-week training wherein you have to pass lots of examinations and need to hit at least 85% in each exams for you to be able to go through the training.

The good thing in the airline industry, once you become a regular employee, you will be able to enjoy unlimited free of charge tickets and explore different places in the Philippines and some other countries.

Top 1: Airline / Hospitality Industry: Cabin Crew (Flight Steward)

This was not used to be my dream, but since I worked in the airline industry, I get that feeling. "Oh, I wanna be like one." I stating on my mind whenever I see these very much professional looking cabin crews. And who would not like the very competitive salary that they have and they are able to enjoy travelling the world.

Aside from their basic salary, they recieve per diem of about Php 300 per hour! And top to that, they receive allowances for their uniform, shoes and the other expenses they have. And just like being a passenger service agent, you will also be able to enjoy free of charge tickets once you become a regualr employee.

And since we are nurses, we have the advantage among other applicants since ensuring passenger safety is one of their job functions.

So if you have a very professional image and want to travel the world, this job is perfectly for you!

Big downside is that this is a very hard job to enter. But who could say? You might be that person that they are looking for!
